The DoD CIO Memorandum, "Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Unclassified & Secret DoD Networks," dated October 24, 2025 (cleared for open publication December 1, 2025), addresses BYOD access to DoD networks in Attachment 4, Table 2, under the use case "Authentication From a Personal Mobile Device (i.e., Bring Your Own Device (BYOD))." Within that same table's Access Management column, the memo states that personal devices/BYOD may not be used to access the DoD Secret Fabric or any other classified networks or systems. This provision sits alongside — and is independent of — the memo's separate requirement that IT Privileged User Accounts also remain blocked from BYOD access.
